Li-ion startup Sakti3 raises $7M in Series B financing
Sakti3, Inc., an Ann Arbor-based developer of next-generation lithium-ion batteries, has completed a $7-million Series B round of financing. The capital, from new investor Beringea and previous investor Khosla Ventures, will fund the company’s expansion of its Michigan-based research, development and manufacturing capabilities.

Vinod Khosla on why Li-Ion batteries are overhyped
Vinod Khosla, co-founder of Sun Microsystems and an active cleantech investors, believes that lithium-ion batteries will be eventually replaced if costs do not go down or oil prices do not go up. But Khosla Ventures is still backing the technology because the “lithium-ion markets are here today and there are good markets.”
