Japan auto, power giants target electric car standard
Four Japanese auto giants and the country’s largest power company joined forces Monday to set up a common system to recharge electric cars, with the aim of creating a global standard.
Toyota, Nissan, Mitsubishi Motors and Fuji Heavy Industries have linked up with Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) as the organising members of the new grouping called “CHAdeMO”.

Japan EV makers, utility plan battery-charge stations
Three Japanese EV makers teamed up with the country’s largest power company Wednesday to study ways to build a grid of battery charging stations for zero-emission EVs. The four companies hope “to popularise fast-speed charge stations, which are absolutely essential in promoting EVs in Japan.”
